#WWC #WalkWorkoutCoffee - Some things in Life are Free!

Are you a “Connector”?

Then this kind of group might be just right for you. I am big on building relationships. I like to think of myself as a "Connector". There is nothing I love more than meeting someone and saying, "Oh! You need to meet____".  #WWC #WalkWorkoutCoffee began as a way for moms to meet other moms (and honestly, for me to get a workout in!!). It grew into much more than that and has been a great joy to see the idea starting to spread.

The early days of #WWC weren’t WWC at all….

They were Get-Us-Back-In-Shape days…Ha! It really grew out of a desire to provide something for the Postpartum Recovery Fitness mommas who were asking me, “Now what can I do? I don’t feel ready to go back to XYZ workout and we still want to see each other”. And so, we started to get together a few times a week to walk, workout, and - yup - get coffee. Worked out really well for me because I had gone from working out and personal training clients 5 days a week to moving back into the terrible hours and diet of birth work which was starting to catch up with my peri-menopausal body!

Below are some pix from 2013-2020…Can’t believe those babies are in school now!!

So fun backstory… Michelle Baur of Jax Prenatal Yoga also had a walking-and-get-coffee moms group a few years back, too. (Michelle is one of my dear Doula Sisters in our Doula group North Florida Doulas and THE BOMB DIGGITY for the best prenatal yoga class EVER. No Really. THE BEST! ) So, the two of us decided to join forces with our groups adding in the exercise part that I was already doing and somewhere around January of 2018 our #WWC group was born!  It's been so awesome to see it grow!

However, the two of us had high and unrealistic hopes to do this 3 times a week consistently…Between the two of us— our busy doula schedules, businesses to run, classes to teach and family commitments — we realized that we were crazy and our expectations turned out to be — High and Unrealistic!! So, it had to be a once-a-week thing. Michelle and I co-led what was to become #WWCatlanticbeachfl.

You don’t have to have fancy equipment.

That’s the beauty of this. It’s always a bit of organized chaos but no-one seems to mind. Sometimes 3 show up to #WWC and sometime 25 show up… You just have to wing it sometimes! Good thing is that all will you need are a few bands, a few circuit stations, and some chalk to write the name of the exercise on the sidewalk. We use a Tabata timer set to 50 seconds of work and 10 sets rest so that we have time to move to the next station. We usually have about 5-7 stations set up in a row or circle and use a combo of body weighted exercises and simple band exercises - so that there isn’t much to carry to the park! If you have a lot of partipants, they can buddy up at stations and do partner work. We share ideas in our Leaders FB group which helps a lot, too.

This grassroots movement is spreading and we couldn’t be happier about that!

From Atlantic Beach, Florida it has grown to a number of places around Florida and is moving out to other states. While many of the leaders of #WWC are also 4TFM instructors, it’s NOT a 4TFM thing. It’s a Community Thing.

You don’t have to be a 4TFM instructor to lead a group. You just have to have a desire to help build Communities

Enjoying being outside, getting some exercise and if you like coffee, that’s a plus! We are learning how best to run this growing group as we go. But we are pretty sure we are on to a wonderful community event. If you think this sounds fun… read on

If you are interested in leading a group in your area, just let us know and we would love to help you get started. No special qualifications other than a desire to help other moms in your community.

Have a great day! And if it’s a pretty day, grab a friend and take a Walk, get a Workout in, and enjoy a cup of Hot (or iced) coffee together!
