FAQS ABOUT POSTPARTUM RECOVERY

What is Postpartum Recovery®?

Postpartum Recovery is for those who are in the early stage of postpartum…Anytime after 10-days post vaginal birth or 6 weeks post cesarean birth (check with your doctor). This 6 week series class is not a kick-butt fitness class and involves gentle recovery movement patterns. In week 1, we focus on mind-body reconnection to the pelvic floor and core. You will not experience anything more in the first 3-4 weeks than you are already doing at home. We like to say that your brain will sweat more than your body! In this class series, you will learn how to connect with your deep core muscular system and pelvic floor to structurally support your core and pelvic floor in the recovery phase. You will also learn about diastasis recti, pelvic floor dysfunction, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and other common experiences in the postpartum period.

Why Should You Take Postpartum Recovery® ?

Postpartum Recovery focuses on the functional movement of the whole body. This class will not only strengthen the pelvic floor and core but will also teach you about the whole structure of your body’s “trunk”. The foundation of your recovery is in movement that strengthens and supports your core and your pelvic floor so that you feel strong and able in caring for your baby and yourself.

What Do I Need to Bring?

You will need to bring a yoga mat, a bottle of water, and whatever you need for your baby. Your baby is welcome, we just ask that they are not yet crawling on week 1 since this can make some of the other new moms nervous and unable to be fully present in class. This is an educational class as much as a physical one. Your instructor will provide a handout each week that includes exercises and information on what we learn. You are welcome to bring a writing utensil but it is not mandatory.
